We are passing along an important alert from the League of Women Voters (LWV) regarding two attempts by Republicans in the Ohio Legislature to restrict the rights of residents:
1) House Joint Resolution 19 (HJR19) limits the ability of citizens to put measures on the ballot
2) Senate Bill 250 would elevate criminal trespass charges to a felony, e.g., environmental protesters at a natural gas pipeline.

HJR 19 is moving quickly through the state legislature and will likely be voted on by the house by the end of this week. There is lots going on with a press conference tomorrow, letters being circulated to organizations and calls to action on social media as well as an online petition.

The public needs the League’s fact-based approach to advocacy on issues ranging from environmental protection to government procedures.
