Icebreaker Wind Project – Take Action to Help Fight Climate Change!

Each of us tries to do our part by using LED bulbs, purchasing energy-efficient appliances, etc. Cleveland now has the potential to make an impact on a larger scale with the implementation of the Icebreaker Wind Project.

Icebreaker Wind Project is a 6-turbine wind farm in the waters of Lake Erie off the coast of Cleveland. It will generate clean, renewable energy and contribute to our area’s economy with more than 500 construction jobs and a projected economic impact of $168M.

The Icebreaker Wind Project would be only the second offshore wind project in the entire United States, and it offers Ohio the opportunity to become a national leader in an emerging industry. It has earned all required Federal approvals, albeit requires a final certificate from the Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB).

PLEASE CLICK HERE and print the letter to Sam Randazzo, Chairman of the OPSB, urging him to grant the certificate. Simply sign your name, address an envelope, and drop it in the mail. It will take a minute and cost a first class stamp, and it is worth the effort for this important cause.

During this season of giving, there is no greater gift we can give to our families than to join our voices together and be heard about the most important issue facing our planet. We, the residents of greater Cleveland, can make a difference on climate change! So again, CLICK HERE to print and send the letter.

Thank you!

Rocky River Democratic Club Meeting

Tuesday, April 25th, 7 p.m.
Rocky River Public Library
While we achieved a recent victory with healthcare, we must remain vigilant across a number of important issues.   Nick Turner, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur’s Congressional Assistant, will show us how and where to focus our opposition to Trump’s cuts in key areas of the budget.  He will share strategies on how to effectively talk to members of Congress, and we will learn how to take action right away.

Also featured during the meeting is Cynthia Demsey, Chair, Cuyahoga Democratic Women’s Caucus (CDWC).  The goals of the CDWC are: participate in the selection and development of strong local, county, and state Democratic Party strategists, leaders, and candidates — especially women — to win at all levels of government; help formulate a winning Democratic agenda for Ohio; and advocate and promote Democratic positions, issues, and values by forming coalitions with other local, state, and national organizations.  Learn what is new from the CDWC during a discussion with Cynthia Demsey.

Next week’s dynamic and informative meeting will also examine Rocky River’s Master Plan that will have long-term effects on the city; we’ll receive an update on Democratic Club activity on the Westside; and have Sam Gifford of the Rocky River City School District available to answer any questions you might have about Issue 13.  We are also delighted to officially unveil the Club’s new website during the meeting!

The complete agenda for our meeting next week is below.
