Support Rocky River Candidates Who Are On The Ballot!

A few reminders to share with family and friends:

  • Vote by Mail ballots must be postmarked by Monday, November 5th.
  • The last phone bank in Rocky River will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 6 – 8 PM at 2625 Westmoor.  Speaking with fellow voters is one of the best ways to get people to vote; and for some folks it takes this extra effort.  Please mark your calendars to show up on Westmoor with your cell phone for this final push.

If you have any questions or comments, please contact us at [email protected]. Thank you to everyone who is volunteering to help increase voter turnout!  You exemplify what is best about our community.

Let’s Keep The Momentum Going!

It’s about 15 days until the most important Midterm Election in a generation.

All efforts are focused on getting people to vote.

If you’d like to make an impact on November 6th, here’s how:

Your Favorite Candidate:

Each of the candidates has a website with ways to volunteer.  These include Sherrod Brown, Richard Cordray/Betty Sutton, Kathleen Clyde, Susan Moran Palmer, Cassimir Svigelj and everyone up and down the ballot.  Visit your favorite candidate’s website to learn what you can do to help.

Rocky River Phone Bank:

Tuesday, October 23rd and 30th, 6 – 8 pm
2625 Westmoor, Rocky River

Just show-up on Westmoor with your cell phone at the above dates/time.  You’ll contact neighbors to emphasize how important it is that they vote.  Some folks simply need a nudge and a reminder.  This year, literally every vote matters.

Texting Out The Vote:

While remaining completely anonymous, download an app and begin reaching a lot of voters quickly and efficiently via text. Your full name and number are not revealed, you’ll use pre-formatted texts, and interact live with anyone who responds.  Get started by clicking HERE.

Distribute Door Hangers:

Many amazing fellow residents have already distributed thousands of door hangers in our community.  Yet, there are thousands more voters to reach, particularly those who are Independent.  If you’d like to distribute door hangers in your neighborhood, please send an email to [email protected].  It’s easy.   Leave one at a home and move on.  It may be the reminder that someone needs.

Canvass:

Knocking on doors and speaking with registered Democrats and Independents is one of the most effective ways to increase voter turnout.  There are multiple upcoming opportunities to canvass in Lakewood, Fairview Park and Bay Village.  To see the complete list and pick one, click HERE.

Yard Signs:

Yard signs for candidates are limited, but if you’d like one for your residence, please send an email to [email protected].  We’ll let you know what is available and deliver them to your door.

Other Grassroots Organizations:

While the Rocky River Democratic Club can help direct your efforts in specific ways, there are many other organizations that are mobilized to help Get Out the Vote.  Whether it’s the League of Women Voters, NOVA or others, pick one and volunteer a few hours.  It’s a good feeling helping to make a difference.

Shareable Information to Help Increase Voting:

Please share the following with family, friends and neighbors.  It just might be the one thing they need to know.

  • Vote by Mail: Yes, we have until Noon on Saturday, November 3rd to submit the application.  The actual ballot must be postmarked by Monday, November 5; or returned in person to the Board of Elections by 7:30 PM on Election Day.  Complete information can be found HERE.
  • To check your voting status and where to vote:  Click HERE and further click on the options in the upper left box.

Not Sure What To Do?:

If you have any ideas, suggestions or comments about helping to increase voter turnout in Rocky River, please send an email to [email protected].   We are in this together and every effort will make a difference.

A Quick Review:

Support your favorite candidate, phone bank, text, distribute door hangers, canvass, place a yard sign, help another grassroots organization, share important voter information, or contact the Rocky River Democratic Club.

None of us can do all of the above alone, but when each of us does one thing, our combined efforts have a powerful, cumulative effect.  Thanks to the many incredible volunteers who have already contributed their time and effort.  Let’s keep the momentum going!

For the May primaries, voter turnout in Rocky River was about 30 percent.  This means that A LOT of our fellow residents did not vote.  To make a difference in the outcomes on November 6th, we need to increase that percentage. Following are a number of proven ways to make this happen; and we need your help.

Saturday/Sunday, October 6/7, 11 AM or 1 PM
Canvassing

MEET SUSAN MORAN PALMER

Monday, September 24,  6 PM

Tartine Bistro, 19110 Detroit Rd., Rocky River

Please bring your kids and neighbors to this free event to meet our next Representative to the United States Congress!

Co-hosting is Harriet Applegate, head of the North Shore AFL-CIO.  The Democratic Party recognizes that unions helped build the middle class, and it will stand with unions to fight for American workers.

Our Congressional District 16 (Fairview Park, North Olmsted, Westlake, much of Rocky River and beyond) is Ohio’s only open congressional seat contest.  With your support, our chances are very strong that Susan will replace Jim Renacci and represent our values in Congress.

Susan is facing a well-funded opponent.  Nearly 90 PAC’s including KochPac,  Mike Pence’s and Paul Ryan’s Pacs are contributing to her Republican opponent. If you can make a contribution at any of the suggested levels, or any amount,  it will help Susan counter their influence.

Tuesday, August 28th Club Meeting, 7 PM

Save the Date!

We look forward to seeing you at the next meeting of the
Rocky River Democratic Club

Tuesday, August 28, 7 PM
Rocky River Public Library

Remember how you felt when Hillary Clinton lost?

The last eighteen months of the Trump Administration have been painful (or fill-in your own adjective).  In less than 100 days, we have the opportunity to do something about it – voting for Democratic Candidates for the US Senate, Congress, Governor, and offices in the Ohio Statehouse!
More than just our own votes, it is important that we increase the number of Democratic votes among those who are not registered, unengaged, or uninformed about what Democrats stand for.
If you’ve been waiting to channel your energy against Trump and all that his presidency has wrought, now is the time to become active.

Please attend on August 28th to get plugged into concrete ways that you can help in the final weeks before early voting begins.

At the meeting, the following speakers will focus on actions to Get Out the Vote!

  • Trevor Elkins, Mayor of Newburg Heights and Progressive Democratic Party Activist
  •  Khalid Saursour, Field Organizer, the Coordinated Campaigns for Senator Brown and Richard Cordray/Betty Sutton
  •  Heather McCalla, Member, Bay Village Nasty Women

If Democrats win the Senate and Congress, Trump’s reckless agenda can be stopped!

Help get others registered and committed to voting for Democrats because votes are all that matter.

Please join us on August 28th and bring someone along!
