We need your input!

Rocky River City Council is holding a Special Meeting tonight, Monday, September 15, 2025. There are several ordinances that we want the community to be aware of and provide their input.

Ordinance 49-25

This would amend our parking code to prohibit parking within 3 feet of a public or private driveway. We’ve had several complaints from residents about this issue, especially on Dale Ave. regarding Magnificat students parking too close to driveways.

Ordinance 50-25

This would define and prohibit camping on public property and within public rights of way. This is aimed at unhoused individuals.

Ordinance 51-25

This would amend our code to prohibit sleeping in municipal parks. This is also aimed at unhoused individuals.

Ordinance 52-25

This would amend our traffic code to prohibit the operation of low speed and under speed vehicles on city streets. This is primarily aimed at prohibiting golf carts on city streets.

Ordinance 54-25

This would prohibit certain solicitation practices. It is aimed at “aggressive” solicitation practices and also aimed to prohibit solicitations in public places such as banks, ATMs, pedestrians waiting in line or going into a building, outdoor dining areas, entrances or exits to public buildings, facilities, or parking lots, at bus stops or on public transportation, and prohibits blocking safe passage of people or vehicles. It also prohibits use of “misleading statements” such as misrepresenting employment, veteran status, medical conditions, or homelessness. This is aimed at “panhandlers.”

Only two short years ago, all seven members of the Rocky River City Council were Republican men.

Then, in 2019, Christina Morris (D) won her race for council at-large; and won re-election a few weeks ago.  She is now joined by Councilwoman-elect Jeanne Gallager (D) in Ward 3.

Join us to celebrate with:

Director of Law Elect:
MICHAEL J. O’SHEA

City Council:
CHRISTINA MORRIS, At Large Re-elected
JEANNE GALLAGHER, Ward 3 Elect

Thank you again to Stacey Schrantz Reid, Katie Timmons, and Lisa Havemann for running for office.  They exemplify the amazing talent among our residents. Their professional skills and experience would be an asset to our local government.

Our thanks, also, to the Rocky River Executive Committee, Rocky River Precinct Representatives, and the many volunteers for your hard work and effort.  Together, we made a difference in our local government!

THANK YOU:

AARON PAUL GODFREY AND TOM JACKSON.  Aaron and Tom ran for office because they believe in a better Ohio.  Our Congressional and State Senate districts are highly gerrymandered to Republican advantage. Despite this built-in disadvantage, Aaron and Tom had very strong showings of voter support. We would be proud to support them again in any future candidacies.
