Rocky River Democrats March Meeting

Our next meeting will be Tuesday March 26th at the Rocky River Public Library and on Zoom, 6:30pm social time, 7:00pm meeting start

We are excited to welcome Mark Owens, Rocky River resident and first-ever Irish Honorary Consul, who will address the group about initiatives promoting economic and cultural initiatives between the US and Ireland, among other topics relevant to his position. We are extremely fortunate to have him in our backyard and have him speak about his position to our group–and at a perfect time on the heels of St. Patrick’s Day!! This will certainly be a meeting you’ll not want to miss!!

Thanks to everyone who got out and voted in the Primary!

The primary saw a GREAT turnout and all our endorsed Democratic candidates won! Congratulations to all our Democratic candidates who won their races!!

Check out the full election results HERE and we will go over more of the results at our next meeting!!

March is Membership Month!

We are currently in our membership drive for 2024! If you have not renewed your membership, see one of us at the next meeting, or you can renew online HERE

Due to the rising costs of postage, scheduling of events, and other club duties, we unfortunately have had to raise our membership rates only slightly–individual memberships have increased to $30 (from $20), and family memberships have increased to $40 (from $30)–senior and student memberships will remain the same, at $10 and $5, respectively. While we hate to have to raise rates, it will go a long way to help us stage events, including postcard parties and community gatherings, maintaining the website, room rentals, printing, and sponsoring get-out-the-vote events and yard sign drives, all of which will become INCREDIBLY important in this CRUCIAL election year!

As always, if you can add more, it will cover someone who can afford less.  Everyone is welcome at the amount you are comfortable contributing.

Citizens Not Politicians Event–March 28th in Rocky River!!

Katie Fahey, founder of the grassroots campaign that ended gerrymandering in Michigan will talk to Fair Districts volunteers about her experiences with the Michigan effort, how they organized thousands of volunteers who collected over 425,000 voter signatures for an initiative that amended the Michigan state constitution to create an independent redistricting commission. Also, how it went with drawing the maps with a Citizens Commission in 2021. This should be a great event–please attend!!

Citizens not Politicians need your help! Go to Fair Districts Ohio HERE to learn more about the initiative and learn how you can help gather signatures prior to the June filing deadline! You’ll need to sign up for short training, which you can do HERE, and then volunteer to help add names to the petitions!

We Need Your Help!

We are looking for some with good writing and technical skills to help with email communication and website updates. If you, or someone you know is interested, please fill out the form HERE. This is a great opportunity to put your talents to work, get more involved with the club, and help in this crucial election year!!
